According to UNICEF, more than 30,000 children die each day from preventable causes. That's over 10 million per year! God loses one of his precious children every 3 seconds.

In November 2012, our Calvary Orphan Outreach Mission team began raising funds to help Pastor Sam and the orphans at the Faith Community Church orphan home establish a chicken farming project that would provide food for the orphans, vocational training for the orphans, and an income for the church. This would allow Pastor Sam's church to embark on a business venture to bring a sustainable income to the church and in turn fully support the orphan home and the orphans that reside there.
This farming project includes two chicken/egg production buildings that will house 2,000 chickens total and a variety of vegetables and fruits that will be harvested on a regular basis. The produce, eggs, and chickens that are not needed to feed the orphans will be sold or bartered in the local markets for additional provisions. This farming initiative is a win-win situation because it will allow the orphans to enjoy a more nutritious and varied diet as well as a badly needed income to support other expenses from the orphan home.
Within 75 days, God provided all of $14,300 needed to fully develop this farming plot. The first phase of development for the farming plot began with the construction of the security wall around the farm plot and the pit latrine. Each of the 11,000 blocks were made by hand and formed with the block making machine. Please see the pictures below to see how this project progressed.
