James 1:27       “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.”



Proverbs 31:9  Open your mouth, judge righteously,
And plead the cause of the poor and needy.


Psalm 107:41 Yet He sets the poor on high , far from affliction, And makes their families like a flock.

Proverbs 28:27    He who gives to the poor will not lack,
      But he who hides his eyes will have many curses.

Job 34:19 Yet He is not partial to princes,
Nor does He regard the rich more than the poor;
For they are all the work of His hands.

 

Proverbs 29:7   The righteous considers the cause of the poor,
      But the wicked does not understand such knowledge.


Malachi 3:5
And I will come near you for judgement;
I will be a swift witness
Against sorcerers,
Against adulterers,
Against perjurers,
Against those who exploit wage earners and widows and orphans,
And against those who turn away an alien-
 

Proverbs 29:14   The king who judges the poor with truth,
      His throne will be established forever.

Job 36:15 He delivers the poor in their affliction,
And opens their ears in opression.

Proverbs 31:20  She extends her hand to the poor,
Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.
 

Isaiah 1:17  “Learn to do good: Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow.” 


Zechariah 7:8-10
Then the word of the Lord came to Zechariah, saying,
"Thus says the Lord of hosts:
Execute true justice,
Show mercy and compassion
Everyone to his brother.
Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless,
The alien or the poor.
Let none of you plan evil in his heart
Against his brother."


Job 22:9-10
 "you have sent widows away empty, and the strength of the fatherless was crushed.  Therefore snares are all around you, and sudden fear troubles you"

Deuteronomy 10:18  
"He administers justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the stranger, giving him food and clothing."


Psalm 82: 3-4    “Defend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy.  Deliver the poor and needy; Free them from the hands of the wicked.” 


Exodus 22:22-24   "You shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child.  If you afflict then in any way, and they cry at all to Me, I will surely hear their cry; and My wrath will become hot, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless."


Psalm 68:5  "A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,  Is God in His holy habitation."


Deuteronomy 15:7-8  "If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs."


Psalm 146:9  "The Lord watches over the strangers; He relieves the fatherless and widow; But the way of the wicked He turns upside down."


Job 29:12-16    "Because I delivered the poor who cried out, The fatherless  and the one that had no helper.  The blessing of a perishing man came upon me, and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.  I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; my justice was like a robe and turban.  I was eyes to the blind , and I was feet to the lame.  I was father to to the poor, and I searched out the case that I did not know."

Psalm 10:14-18  
To repay it by Your hand.  The helpless commits himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless.  Break the arm of the wicked and the evil man;Seek out his wickedness until You find none.The Lord is King forever and ever;The nations have perished out of His land.Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble.You will prepare their heart;You will cause Your ear to hear,To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed,That the man of the earth may oppress no more.”


Hosea 14:3   "...For in You the fatherless finds mercy."


Jeremiah 49:11  "Leave your fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let your widows trust in Me."


Deuteronomy 14:28-29  "At the end of every third year you shall bring out the tithe of your produce of that year and store it up within your gates.  And the Levites because he has no portion nor inheritance with you, and the stranger and the fatherless and the widow who are within your gates, may come and eat and be satisfied, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do."




Jeremiah 22:3  "...Do no wrong and do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, or the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place."



Job 31:16-22  "If I have kept the poor from their desire, or caused the eyes of the widow to fail, or eaten my morsel by myself, so that the fatherless could not eat of it (but from my youth I reared him as a father, and from my mother's womb I guided the widow); If I have seen anyone perish for lack of clothing, or any poor man without covering; if his heart has not blessed me, and he was not warmed with the fleece of my sheep;  If I have raised my hand against the fatherless, when I saw I had help in the gate;  then let my arm fall from my shoulder, let my arm be torn fom the socket"



Psalm 113:7-8
He raises the poor out of the dust,
And lifts the needy out of the ash heap,
That He may seat him with princes-
With the princes of His people.

 Exodus 22:22-24   "You shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child.  If you afflict them in any way, and they cry out at all to me, I will surely hear their cry; and My wrath will become hot, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless."


Deuteronomy 24:17-21  "You shall not pervert justice due the stranger or the fatherless, nor take a widow's garment as as pledge.  But you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and the Lord your God redeemed you from there; therefore I command you to do this thing.
    When you reap your harvest your harvest in your field, and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it; it shall be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.
    When you beat your olive trees, you shall not go over the boughs again; it shall be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow.  When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not glean it afterward;  it shall be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow."
